King M
Hey friend, I tell you a story. A good story. With a moral in it.
I tell you about a king. I tell you about King Mmefiokmma. See, King M, he living long time ago with big kingdom. Lots of land and people. Just not enough water on one part of his kingdom. So he has like a desert, see?
King M; he a good king. So one day, God says to him: "Mmefiokmma, you're a good king, so I’ll give you the one thing you really need. I'll give you a river so you won’t lack water so much. Good, eh?"
King M says, "It's good," and, "thank you, God," then he sits back and waits for the river.
Soon enough the river comes flowing though. But it’s flowing on the side of the kingdom that don't need it so much.
So King M figures to himself, maybe God forgot which side of the kingdom really needed the river. So he puts up army of workers and they spend a lifetime diverting the river to the side of the kingdom that really needs it.
Problem is, not long after they finish this tedious work, the whole river dries up.
So King M, now wasted by age and disappointment, cries up to God. "God, why have you taken back the river?"
"I didn't." Says God.
"So where's it gone to?" King wants to know.
God chuckles and says, "My son Mmefiokmma, you gave it to the desert, didn't you? That desert been thirsty long before your time. I knew that, but you didn't."
Again King M cries up to God sadly: "God, since you knew the desert was going to drink up the river, why didn't you warn me when I was diverting it there? And since you can do everything, why didn't you just sate the desert so it wouldn't drink up all the river?"
God sighs heavily and King M's whole kingdom trembles. Then God says, "Mmefiokmma, that's the problem with you humans: you just don't get it."
Now, friend, you know the story; you can figure out the moral -- I'm not sure what it is so I can’t tell you. I can tell you though that I like this story and I'd like to try and dramatize it. You think maybe you can play King M and I play God?
By,
Crispin Oduobuk
I've got no time to write this couple of weeks (for obvious reasons) but this is a story i found and believe to be quite interesting.
Sorry for the delay and please please pray for me.
Love always ... cheers.

I've got absolutely no idea what that means.

San, how threatening do you think you’re cookies are? I’ve waited all year for it. First it was for the Rotary Cup, then my birthday then I don’t know now my entry. Perhaps, you should present your cookies first before you threaten anyone with it! And, how electrifying do you think life can possibly get when I have to sit for a Chemistry and Biology paper in less than 7 days? Sheesh … some people can be demanding beyond their limits.
Excuse me.
Let’s see, I’m trying to muster out all the strength of mind I have to make this entry.
I’ve recently received the booklist for my A-levels next year. I’m taking law, sociology, English literature and economics. In a week’s time, I will finally complete my secondary school education. Looking back at the times I’ve spent at the school, I guess there isn’t a lot to cherish about. So, here I am, at this crossroad in my life.
Going to college is a great transition for me. More freedom. More allowance. More friends. More work. More struggles. More pain. Less sleep. Less TV. Less Formula One. No tennis. No good food. No Astro. No sisters. No Desmond.
So, I’d like to clear some misconceptions about me while I was still at school. Thing that people think they know but they’ve got no idea about. Things I hide and things I expose.
Contrary to popular believe …
1. I do not like debating.
Technically, I-Vee and Jacq forced me into the team. The first public debate I had was a total catastrophe. I was third speaker from the opposition and I messed up my queue cards and I swore to myself I will no use queue cards ever again. I also swore solemnly that I would never debate again if I have to go through such humiliation. Of course, I soon found out that humiliation is a part of growth. You can’t just have growth. A lot of other bad things come with it. Debating, people, is not pleasurable. It’s glamorous to be a part of something like that but it’s also a lot of hard work. You eat debate. You sleep debate. You recite your opening speech in the shower. You debate with yourself looking at the mirror before you sleep. You see every single sentence and turn it into and argument. You force yourself to think points when you cant. You make yourself retain information and facts that you don’t care about. You work with people and mates you’ve never known. You work till late at night at a studio with only some buns as dinner. You get admonished because you skip class for practices. You get into dispute with the principal for standing up for what you belief. And being the mighty sore loser I am, I hate losing. I enjoy it sometimes I hate it most of the time.
2. I do not like St. Johns Ambulance.
I know there was this time where I was fanatical about it. Unfortunately, the love for that vanished into thin air. I don’t like the politics there and I don’t like the members there (not all). I am not a very friendly senior and I don’t like my juniors. I torture people during marching practices. Everybody hated and in all probability still hates me. To be completely honest with you peeps, I loved St. Johns. But, I guess, sometimes, when you don’t get the respect you expect form people in the same society you just loose interest. When you try so hard to make something work and it didn’t, you’ll get sick of trying.
3. I do not hate Madam Lam.
If bitches are divided into pedigrees and strays, she’s a stray. I hated her for attempting to sack me from my monitor post. I hated the fact that she made me stand in the corner for giggling in class. I hated that the fact that she sent me to the discipline teacher for laughing in class. I hated the fact that she picked on me. I hated her guts. I hated her clothes. I hated her soul. I don’t hate her. She is of mere inexistence to me now.
4. I do not waste a lot of my money.
I didn’t come from a well to do family to be honest. I father used to work day and night to make ends meet. My dad had to strike a lottery so that he could afford the medical fees at a private hospital when I came to the world. I know money do not drop from the sky and I know they don’t grow on trees. I spend money on things I appreciate- CDs like how other people are willing to spend money on an Armani shirt and a pair of Nike shoes or a Tiffany diamond ring.
I couldn’t think of anything else at the moment.
What do I know for sure?
Today, I know for sure I need to finish form five chemistry.
Cheers.
And people, go and hit the books… you don’t have time!

Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumbnail. ~Henry David Thoreau
50 things I want to do before I die:
· Writing a bestseller novel
· Owning a mansion in Liverpool.
· Buying the Enzo Ferrari.
· Shaking hands with Michael Schumacher.
· Have dinner at Eiffel Tower.
· Breed racehorses.
· Build a school.
· Go to Rome.
· Graduate from Cambridge or Oxford or Yale or Harvard.
· Fly a plane.
· Start a chain of pub and bistros.
· Own a law firm.
· Survive a car crash.
· Meet Anthony Hopkins.
· Watch Liverpool play live.
· Watch Wimbledon Tennis Tournament.
· Watch the US Open for tennis.
· Roland Garros
· Australian Open (Yes, I’m in love with tennis!)
· Watch a Formula One race at the grand stand in Italy.
· Play Pachabel’s Canon on the piano.
· Go fishing in the dessert.
· Ice skiing in Switzerland.
· Drive a formula 1 car.
· Graduate with first class honors from university.
There are the first 25. I believe the list will grow later in my life with me adding things I want to do before I give up the ghost and crossing out the less realistic goals in my life.
Simplicity? Simplicity no longer exist in our lives simply because we tend to like the complexity in life. The finer things in life are always quite simple but very often we overlook them.
"Simplicity of life, even the barest, is not a misery, but the very foundation of refinement: a sanded floor and whitewashed walls, and the green trees, and flowery meads, and living waters outside; or a grimy palace amid the smoke with a regiment of housemaids always working to smear the dirt together so that it may be unnoticed; which, think you, is the most refined, the most fit for a gentleman of those two dwellings?" William Morris (lecture delivered at the London Institution, 10 March 1880), Hopes and Fears for Art (1882

I paid a visit to the hospital lately to visit a sick friend.
The hospital ..
It appears to me that everyday, the same people line the corridors like an honor guard. They sit silently with mouths open or absently chewing tongues, marking time patiently with thin, wet lips and gummy smiles. It seems they are parked there only to observe the endless parade of humanity shuffling up and down.
Well, maybe not everyone is like empty husks waiting for the winds of life to blow them away. We went over to see the newborns. It’s amazing. You can almost feel the life of the baby just by looking at it. You smile at every single movement he makes. To see his eye open will make your day and to see him yawn will make your day whole.
I guess, moments of magic and joy await us even in the least likely places.
…
I don’t think you need someone like me to remind you to always live in the present. It doesn’t really matter what it happens in the past or what will happen in the future. A visit to the hospital can be quite a wakening call. It makes you realize how fragile life is. Always, always be grateful for the people around you because you can never tell what will happen next. And of course, if you feel great pain in your abdomen area or anywhere else, go to the hospital.
Mate,
I pray for your immediate recovery. You made my heart skipped a beat when I heard about it. Cheers.
